Early Literacy Essentials: Transforming Engagement into Early Literacy Success

It all Starts with a Strong Foundation.

In this workshop, we will explore the critical precursor skills that set the stage for successful reading development in our youngest learners. Understanding emergent literacy is essential for educators, and we will dive into research-backed strategies to foster foundational skills in early childhood.

Guided by the work of renowned literacy expert Dr. Laura Justice, we will focus on:

  • Foundational Literacy Skills – Understanding the building blocks of reading readiness.
  • Interactive Book Reading – Enhancing engagement and comprehension.
  • Evidence-Based Practices – Implementing research-supported techniques for early literacy success
Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify key precursor skills essential for early reading development.
  2. Implement evidence-based strategies to support emergent literacy in young learners.
  3. Integrate interactive book-reading techniques into daily instruction.
  4. Utilize engaging, hands-on literacy activities to strengthen foundational skills.
