Transitioning a Student from a Self-Contained to a General Education Classroom

This course is the third in our Inclusion Series.  This course is focused on the process of transitioning students with complex access needs into the general education classroom. The content in this training aligns with the information in Chapter 7 of Jorgensen (2018), It’s More Than “Just Being In:” Creating Authentic Inclusion for Students with Complex Support Needs.

The learning objectives for this training are:

  • Provide examples of how to address inclusion concerns with inquiry
  • Identify steps the team can take to transition a student from a self-contained classroom to a general education classroom

As you move through the course, you will participate in many self-assessment assignments. You should provide high-quality responses that show you are engaging with and internalizing the content.
