Executive Functioning

This course focuses on executive functioning (EF) and provides information on what Executive Function is, how Executive Function deficits may impact a student, and strategies to access and develop student cognitive abilities to improve attention, behavior, and organization. Students with EF disorders may struggle with attention, organization, and behavior. These difficulties are tied to classroom performance and suggestions are made to help students with EF deficits succeed.   This course will help you:

  • Understand how cognitive differences can negatively impact memory and self-regulation.
  • Recognize and describe students who have difficulty with executive functions.
  • Identify how trouble with executive function can negatively impact academic performance.
  • Learn classroom strategies to improve student attention, recall, memory recall, emotional self-regulation, time management, and focus.
